Podcasting takes its name from the idea of being able to "broadcast" a program to an iPod or other portable music player. With a microphone and a computer and a bit of free software, you can record a sound file, place it on a web server, and disseminate it with an RSS feed. To subscribe to these feeds, use a program such as iTunes or Juice, which will in turn download new "programs" to your music player whenever they are available.
