UVic Style

First edition, November 2006

This style guide has been created to aid writers and editors preparing print and web communications for academic and administrative units of the University of Victoria. It applies to all general, promotional and marketing communications materials, official correspondence, and reports and submissions to university governing bodies. It is not intended to apply to teaching, scholarly or research texts.

Alternative formats

UVic Style is available in html format on these pages (content links at right) and in printable pdf format. Printed copies of the first edition are being distributed to all university units in mid November.

Spelling authority

The university uses the Canadian Oxford Dictionary as its spelling authority. It is accessible to UVic users via Oxford Reference Online.
