Artist's Family Dances and Songs Part of Special Evening

Family members of First Nations artist and UVic graduate Francis Dick will present a special performance at UVic Centre on April 3 in honour of the artist's current exhibition at the Maltwood Art Museum and Gallery. The cultural evening, Nax'wida gyax xux (Let There Be Light) will highlight the legend of the Atlakima that tells the story of the many different characteristics, personalities, and peculiarities of the human spirit. It speaks to Dick's ancestors' encounters with both the mortal and spirit worlds. Only members of Dick's family can perform the presentation's songs and dances.
