Provincial Budget Experts

The following University of Victoria faculty members can discuss the Feb. 19 2008 BC provincial budget:

Noreen Frisch, the director of UVic’s School of Nursing, can discuss the government’s proposed expanded role for nurses and new three year Bachelor of Nursing Science program which will condense the degree program while retaining its integrity and content.

Andre Kushniruk, the director of UVic’s School of Health Information Science, can discuss issues related to improving usability and adoption of, and education about, electronic health records (EHR) in BC to assist health care providers and administrators in making effective health care decisions.

Dennis Pilon, an assistant professor of political science at UVic, will be in the budget lockup and can discuss how the government is using the budget to position itself politically. Pilon teaches courses on Canadian and BC politics, elections and voter representation. His most recent book is The Politics of Voting: Reforming Canada’s Electoral System (2007)

Michael Prince, the Lansdowne Professor in Social Policy, will be in the budget lockup and is willing to discuss aspects of the budget that deal with disability issues, social issues and housing.
