Research Description

Practice of Musical Performance
Primarily Chamber Music, with the Internationally recognized Lafayette String Quartet.
Also, concertmaster of the Galiano Ensemble of Victoria http://galiano.ca/
Recital engagements, collaborating with artists including Bruce Vogt, Eva Solar Kinderman, Marc Ryser, Arthur Rowe, Harald Krebs, Eugene Dowling, David Jaffe.

Co-founder and teacher of the Strings Mentoring Program (MU336) with cellist, Pamela Highbaugh Aloni. Strings Mentoring enables many of UVic's fine undergraduate and graduate students to participate in the development of strings education in the public schools. Community Collaborations

The members of the Lafayette String Quartet have raised over $15,000 to fund the annual Lafayette Health Awareness Series.
Also, through their association with the late Eugene Weigel, the LSQ gives donations to the ALS Society of Victoria whenever they perform the quartet "Remembrance" by Mr. Weigel.

International Involvement

International Research

The Lafayette String Quartet, in conjunction with their colleagues Drs Harald Krebs and Daniel Biro will be presenting "The Bartok Quartets, Tradition and Legacy" as part of an international conference to be held at the University of Victoria in late Sept. 2008. As part of the conference, performers, composers, theorists and musicologists from all over the world will be coming to speak on the remarkable life of the musical pioneer, Bela Bartok.

The Lafayette String quartet was formed in Detroit in 1986. They moved to the University of Victoria as Artists in Residence in 1991.
