Research Description

My research is aimed at understanding the cognitive and linguistic aspects of reading and writing development and difficulties in diverse groups of children and adults. A main focus of my work is aimed at literacy promotion across the lifespan as foundational to developmental health. My work also focuses on effective assessment, identification, and intervention approaches for literacy-based learning difficulties within current special education service delivery models.

Community Collaborations

I am currently involved in an academic intervention project for children with epilepsy and their families. This project is in partnership with the Victoria Epilepsy & Parkinson's Centre.

I am involved in several international organizations including the International Academy for Research in Learning Disabilities (IARLD), the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading (SSSR), and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
