VIHA announces H1N1 immunization clinics at UVic
The Vancouver Island Health Authority will hold public H1N1 influenza vaccine clinics at UVic in the apparatus gym of the McKinnon Building on Nov. 2, 3, 4 and 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Enter the clinics via the Gabriola Road entrance across from the Continuing Studies Building. Pay parking in lot 3 (by the tennis courts) will be reserved for clinic patrons during the clinics. Those who usually use this parking lot on a daily basis are advised to use parking lot 5 (residences) or parking lot 7 (by the Technology Enterprise Facility) as alternatives.
According to VIHA, the following high-risk populations will take priority at these clinics:
- Those under 65 with chronic health conditions
- Pregnant women
- People, including First Nations, who live in rural and isolated settings and communities
- Children between six months and five years old
- Healthcare workers
- Household contacts and care providers of infants less than six months old
- Household contacts and care providers of persons who are immunocompromised
