There are only a few days left to submit your Great Moment in advance of UVic's 50th anniversary celebrations. Anniversary organizers encourage you to send in your special memory about a UVic event, achievement or campus development online by Jan. 20. A selection committee will recommend which great moments will be featured on the anniversary website during the 2012-2013 celebratory period.
4th City Talks Jan. 19 - Downtown talk and urban sprawl
What happens economically, environmentally and socially when a city grows beyond its limits? On Jan. 19, the City Talks speaker series at UVic’s downtown Legacy Art Gallery will present visiting lecturer Roger Keil of York University. During a break-in at the Administrative Services Building over the weekend of Jan. 7 and 8 a small amount of cash, some cheques, electronic devices and employee information were stolen. Over 1,000 people gathered at Victoria's Temple Emanu-El Cemetery on Jan. 8 after vandalism at the 152-year-old Jewish cemetery. On Jan. 13, fifty local middle school students are invited to UVic to discuss the consequences of hate and the devastation of the Holocaust. Also, on Jan. 27 (International Holocaust Remembrance Day), UVic in conjunction with the Victoria Holocaust Remembrance and Education Society will kick off its Holocaust Speakers’ Series.
